John 17:6
I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.
Church (Ekklesia) – called out ones
John 17:7-8
Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You. For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me.
Jesus here affirms the GENUINE saving faith of His disciples.
John 17:9
I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours.
John 17:10
And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them.
If you GENUINELY belong to Jesus, then your life is going to bring glory to Jesus!
John 17:11
Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me.
Jesus references the world 18 times in this prayer.
The world we live in is trying to SEDUCE us to be like the world. The world is trying to CONFORM us!
Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world.

1 John 2:15, 17
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
This is our Lord’s Prayer for us!
John 17:11
Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me that they may be one as We are.
John 17:12
While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

John 17:13
But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves.

- They may be one as We are (17:11)
- They may have My joy fulfilled in themselves (17:13)
Jesus talked frequently about US having His joy!
John 15:11
These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
There is a DIFFERENCE between Happiness and Joyfulness.
HAPPINESS is dependent upon circumstances.
JOYFULNESS is dependent upon abiding in Jesus!
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
The joy of Jesus is NOTICEABLY present in the abiding believer!
John 17:14
I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
John 15:18-19
If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
John 17:15
I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.

John 17:15
I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.

They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is LIGHT and in Him is no darkness at all.
